Well, it’s been quite the year already hasn’t it?
I’m having mixed feelings about 2022 & I’m sure you’ve been feeling the same! I’ve been getting the sense that burnout is quite a real thing for many people at the moment. We’ve all collectively been through a tough time & it’s been a huge learning curve on how we deal with our mental health.
We need to be able to protect our energy during this time. I can say from personal experience that it’s so easy to allow things into our lives that can drain that energy. We want to be a positive force, but that requires us to protect our energy where possible.
WHAT IS ENERGY?
Energy looks different for everyone. For me, my energy is calm but bubbly. I can see the positive in everything. When that is sapped, I feel tired, moody & just generally rubbish.
Here we’re talking about mental, physical, emotional & spiritual energy. It all folds into one & before we know it we are unbalanced and our energy levels are drained.
BEING AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE CONSUMING…
In a world of easily accessing information & news at our fingertips, it can be easy to view this information every day, if not multiple times a day. Something that’s been proven to have a negative effect on our mental health.
News…One way that I’ve been able to protect my energy recently is by significantly reducing my access to news. Of course, you might want to keep up to date with what’s going on in the world, but reducing this to maybe once a day will be significantly better than consuming it multiple times a day. Whether that’s turning it off on TV/radio or deleting a news app off of your phone, turning news notifications off. These steps will all help protect that energy.
Social media….a big one. I’m certainly not saying give up social media. However, when and for how long you consume it could be draining you. Set yourself a reduced time you can be on a social media app to reduce scroll time, turn off notifications, add certain pages to your favourites so you only see the accounts you really want to see, unfollow accounts that make you feel less than, don’t go on first thing in the morning or last thing at night.
Gossip…this just gives us all the negative vibes. Have you ever spent a lot of time around someone who loves to gossip? Personally, I have and it’s SO draining. If you can avoid those types of conversations, great! At the very least you can try and change the subject, not interact with it or outright say this makes you uncomfortable.
Setting these boundaries is key to protecting your energy!
CREATE A SANCTUARY
Creating a soothing space that you can go to is such a lovely way to re-energise yourself. Thinking about a place in your home, maybe the bedroom or a corner in your study? Think about colour, texture, and scent. How do you want to use the space? For a calm moment with candles & incense. A space to do something crafty like crochet? Maybe a space to do yoga or meditation? Keeping this space tidy and inviting is key to helping you re-charge & protect your energy.
GETTING YOUR VITAMIN N…
That’s right…nature.
To protect your energy it’s paramount to connect with yourself and how you are feeling, so you can become a lot more in tune with whether you’re feeling depleted or if your energy stores are thriving!
There’s something about getting outside into the countryside, woodland, beach etc that helps you connect to that more. It helps you get out of your head & feel…it helps your energy freely flow again. And if you’re are feeling a little on the low side, the advantage of getting out into nature will instantly start replenishing your energy again.
CRYSTALS FOR PROTECTION
Crystals can be used for protection, to absorb negative energy as well as EMF (Electromagnetic fields). Use these as well as grounding crystals for the full effect.
These are our top picks! Black Tourmaline, Obsidian, Hematite, Shungite, Pyrite, Smokey Quartz, Clear Quartz & Selenite.
